Hospital Rating Site Launched, RateYourHospitalStay.com

Hospital Rating Site Launched, RateYourHospitalStay.com

RateYourHospitalStay.com is a free site where consumers can both rate a hospital (http://www.rateyourhospitalstay.com/rate_hospital) or look up hospitals to see how others have rated them.

Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) March 3, 2009 -- RateYourHospitalStay.com, http://www.rateyourhospitalstay.com, is a newly launched website that provides opinions and ratings of hospitals (http://www.rateyourhospitalstay.com/search) across the U.S. The site also allows people who have recently undergone a hospital stay to rate their experiences and share their opinions. The site is based on the premise that by providing an online mechanism to unite the opinions of those recently hospitalized with those who may be considering hospitalization, the information can help people make informed decisions about which health care facilities best fits their needs.

"Our mission with RateYourHospitalStay.com is to shine a light on unbiased assessments of patient care for other consumers who are often ill-informed of their choices," says Founder of RateYourHospitalStay.com Joseph Reed. "Through better, more complete and dynamic information, consumers will be able to separate the good hospitals from the bad."

Reed says most of the information about hospitals and healthcare facilities on the web today is provided by companies who are owned or controlled by those in the healthcare industry or groups who benefit from keeping information limited. RateYourHospitalStay.com is completely independent, dedicated to providing the best possible unbiased information to consumers. The site is not funded or supported by any hospital or healthcare corporation. Its support comes solely from the advertising sponsors on the site.

RateYourHospitalStay.com is also committed to being a free service. All that is required is registering in order to complete surveys and post comments. Registration is easy and simply requires having a valid email address. RateYourHospitalStay.com does not sell or give any private information to outside sources and is a member of the Ratings and Reviews Professional Association.

RateYourHospitalStay.com (http://www.rateyourhospitalstay.com/) surveys include questions on:

* Admissions Process

* Hospital Facilities

* Food and Nutrition

* Nursing Care

* Visitor Experience

* Discharge Process

The rating system is a five-star system with:

* 1 Star = Unacceptable

* 2 Stars = Poor

* 3 Stars = Average

* 4 Stars = Good

* 5 Stars = Excellent

All ratings for each hospital facility are combined and averaged to arrive at a score.

Currently there are over 4,500 U.S. hospitals listed on the RateYourHospitalStay.com website. If consumers don't find a particular hospital listed, it can easily be added to the database by contacting RateYourHospitalStay.com via the "Contact Us" page with the name, city and state of the hospital they wish to include. Within 72 hours it will be added to the site. People can also search by zip code to view information on all the hospitals in a particular area.

RateYourHospitalStay.com encourages people to include personal comments, both positive and negative, as long as they relate to a hospital experience. The survey is specific to hospital facilities and the treatment received in and by the hospital staff. The information not only helps individuals in choosing a hospital or facility that best fits their needs, but additionally, by making the information public, hospitals may see the need to reevaluate their patient care services. Virginia Beach, VA (PRWEB) March 2, 2009 -- Child Safety House Calls announces four new recipients of their Award of Excellence. After a thorough evaluation by pediatricians who specialize in the field of child safety, these winners were selected for their innovation in helping parents keep their children safe. The winners are BreathableBaby® Breathable Bumper mesh crib bumper, Infant CPR Anytime™ DVD-based training, InstantAmber™ on-line storage of children's identifying information, and DigitSaver™ door pinch guard.

"These products can prevent so many of the tragedies I see everyday in the emergency room," says pediatric emergency medicine physician Dr. Joel Clingenpeel. Nationally a child is treated in the emergency department for an unintentional injury approximately every ninety seconds(1). "I want every parent to take action rather than leave their children's safety to chance."

Child Safety House Calls is a pediatrician-managed organization whose mission includes injury prevention advocacy and childproofing promotion. The organization established the Award of Excellence to keep parents informed of the best child safety products and services. Criteria for their experts' selections include: effectiveness, innovation, ease of use, durability, breadth of target audience, and professional experience with the product. Child Safety House Calls continually seeks new child safety aids worthy of the Award of Excellence. The organization receives no compensation in exchange for its selections. For more information visit www.childsafetyhousecalls.com/Awards.html.

Congratulations to these fours winners for their contributions to child safety:

BreathableBaby® Breathable Bumpers Mesh Crib Bumpers

Many parents choose to line their infants' cribs with bumpers despite the risk of suffocation and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The patented Breathable Bumpers mesh crib bumpers provide a safer alternative to traditional bumpers by allowing infants who become trapped against the bumper to breathe through the fabric. BreathableBaby's exclusive fabric with Sure-Breathe Technology helps maintain air access and reduces risks of suffocation. Visit www.breathablebaby.com for more in formation.

Infant CPR Anytime™

Infant CPR training is now convenient for virtually everyone with Infant CPR Anytime™ training. Caregivers can train themselves in proper infant resuscitation in their own home with a 22 minute DVD and reusable training manikin. The product was developed in coordination with the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics using the technology of Laerdal Medical. For more information visit www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3045660.

InstantAmber™

InstantAmber™ has created an on-line storage service to allow parents to rapidly respond in the event of a missing child. All of a child's identifying information including photos is stored securely for instant submission to authorities. Visit www.instantamber.com for more information.

Digitsaver™

Digitsaver™ pinch guards prevent doors from slamming on children's fingers. With the appearance of stuffed animals, these devices attach to door knobs and block doors from closing completely. For more information visit www.digitsaver.com.
